Different Ways Eyeglasses Can Protect Your Eyes
Posted on: 26 October 2017
When you find out that you need to wear prescription lenses, you may be torn between going with contacts or glasses. Really, even if you choose to wear contact lenses the majority of the time, you should always make sure you have prescription glasses. This is due to the fact that there are different ways that eyeglasses can help to protect your eyes. You can learn about some of the ways they can protect your eyes by reviewing the information offered to you here:
Glasses will protect your eyes from getting worse in some situations
Both glasses and contacts can prevent your vision from getting worse in certain situations. However, when you have access to glasses that you can simply slide on your face, you will be more likely to wear them more often than contacts which have to be rinsed and placed on your eye one by one. This is why you should get yourself a pair of glasses even if you like the idea of having contacts to wear when you are going to be out and about.
Glasses can help protect your eyes from the sun's rays
While wearing contacts helps to improve your vision while giving you the freedom of not having anything on your face, they also don't give you some of the protection from the sunglasses can. You can have a UV protection coating applied to the lenses of your prescription glasses. This coating can be almost clear and unnoticeable, or it can be darker. You can also go with a coating that is clear inside but gets darker outside. This way, not only are your eyes protected from the rays of the sun, but it also appears as if you are wearing sunglasses and you may find it easier to look around without all the brightness of the sun.
Glasses can shield your eyes from things in the air
When you wear contact lenses, you will actually have to worry more about things like dust and other debris that's airborne. This is due to the fact that it can scratch your contacts, or even get stuck between them and your eye, which can scratch your eye. When you are wearing glasses, you will be cutting down on the things that can get into your eyes. While regular prescription glasses are not designed to be safety lenses, they do end up shielding your eyes in windy conditions or other times when there are a lot of particles flying around in the air.
